My Birth My Rules

Let's change the narrative.

Improving birth experiences

Now more than ever women and birthing people access midwifery services anxious and scared of the thought of pregnancy and birth within a pandemic. However even before COVID19 took over our lives, women and birthing people are faced with a whirlwind of information which more often than not they are poorly facilitated to use when making informed choices and self advocate throughout their pregnancy and birth.

My Birth My Rules is a campaign developed by NHS midwives to change the narrative within maternity and perinatal care. Pregnancy and birth can be one of the most uplifting and empowering experiences of a persons life and unfortunately some are left traumatised or completely unaware of what has happened or why. This needs to change.

Our workshops have been developed to centralise around informed consent, as well as delving into the language that we use surrounding pregnancy and birth. Our goal is for every person we have contact with to have a fire in their bellies for themselves, to have the ability to speak up when necessary and advocate fiercely.

Through this initiative we will be working with women and birthing people, birth partners and supporters, aspiring and current students midwives, qualified midwives, health care professionals, other birth workers and anyone else who wishes to be a part of this important shift.
